The thought of a serious spill in B.C. waters—something akin to the Exxon Valdez or Prestige events—is an emphatically frightening thing. There's been a moratorium on tanker traffic in our northern inside waters since 1972, but it's not at all clear that our current governments either recognize or intend to abide by it. If the prospect of an oil spill in B.C. is something that concerns you—and it should be if you have any kind of connection to the coast and its ecology—you can go here to add your name to a petition organized by the Dogwood Initiative.
